Symphonic Winds

The top ensemble at Rogers Middle School is the Symphonic Winds. It is comprised of students representing all instruments in the band program. The band is made up of 7th and 8th grade students by audition only. The Symphonic Winds participate in all public concerts, pep rallies, district  ensemble contest and various concert band competitions throughout the spring semester. Members of the Symphonic Winds also participate in individual events throughout the year including All-Region Auditions, solo contest and various other activities throughout the year. Students are highly encouraged to participate in private lessons, which are critical to the success of the program.

Concert Band I

The second performing ensemble at Rogers Middle School is the Concert Band I. It is comprised of students representing all instruments in the band program. The band is made up of 7th and 8th grade students by audition only. Concert Band I participates in all public concerts, pep rallies, district ensemble contest and various concert band competitions throughout the spring semester. Members of the Concert Band I also are highly encouraged to participate in individual events throughout the year including All-Region Auditions, solo contest participation and various other activities throughout the year. Students are highly encouraged to participate in private lessons, which are critical to the success of the program.

Concert Band II

The third performing ensemble at Rogers Middle School is the Concert Band II. It is comprised of students representing most instruments in the band program. The band is made up of 7th and 8th grade students by audition only. Concert Band II participates in all public concerts, pep rallies, district ensemble contest and various concert band competitions throughout the spring semester. Members of the Concert Band II also are encouraged to participate in individual events throughout the year including All-Region Auditions, solo contest participation and various other activities throughout the year. Students are highly encouraged to participate in private lessons, which are critical to the success of the program.

Beginning Band

The Beginning Band is comprised of students that do not have prior experience on a wind or percussion instrument. All students receive instruction on fundamental tone, rhythmic concepts and basic reading music skills. Students are taught in homogeneneuos classes throughout the school day. No musical experience is necessary. Beginning Band students may participate in solo & ensemble contest, Winter & Spring Concerts and one concert band competition during the spring semester. Students are highly encouraged to participate in private lessons, which are critical to the success of the program.

Jazz Band

Jazz Band is a specialized ensemble that focuses on introducing participating students to the Jazz idiom. The ensemble is comprised of 7th and 8th grade students that can play on instruments typically in a standard Big Band: saxophone, trombone, trumpet, drum set, guitar, piano and bass guitar. All students participating in Jazz Band are required to be enrolled in one of the concert bands during the same participating semester. Exceptions may be made, at the discretion of the directors,  for instruments that are not taught in beginning band (guitar, bass and piano). The Jazz Band participates in various public concerts and competitions throughout the year. Students are highly encouraged to participate in private lessons, which are critical to the success of the program
